Airconditioning en centrale verwarming voeren uw oogvocht sneller af dan dat het aangemaakt kan worden. Dat voelt u snel genoeg want uw ogen gaan prikken en/of branden en soms lijkt het net alsof er een korreltje zand inzit. Televisie kijken en beeldschermwerk hebben ook invloed op uw ogen omdat u dan de neiging heeft minder te knipperen. Minder knipperen heeft weer tot gevolg dat het traanvocht verdampt en niet opnieuw aangevoerd wordt, met als gevolg de zojuist beschreven symptomen.
